AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) and is captain of the San Diego Wave FC. She was also co-captain of the United States women's soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. [8][9] Shortly after graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional there and was instrumental in helping the team win the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time, and was one of the youngest players on the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the match-winning goal the 123rd minute in the semi-final match against Canada. She was able to finish 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists along with Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and provide 20 assists within the same year, becoming the sixth the tiniest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was the FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan also assisted in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
